" Campfires and Stars"

You know it has been pretty hot around here for quite a while, but there is a time that comes around everyday that just can't be beat. When the sun goes down the stars come out, the campfire flickeres in the faces of the cowhands. Then it is time to break out the old guitar and sing some great old cowboy songs. If you have been to the ranch you know exactly what I am talking about. If you have never sat around that old campfire you need to give it a try.

This is a picture taken the other night by one of our guest.

"Thanks"

Some nights it's just good to stop and say a prayer of thanksgiving.

"Chuck Wagon Dinner and Show"

This week will feature Jody and Bobby Jenkins at the Chuck wagon dinner here at the ranch. Jody and his dad have opened for folks like Garth Brooks, Brooks and Dunn, Willie and always make sure we have a great time.
We start out with a ride to Ghost town and you just might see a bunch of deer on the way.
The Texas Wild Bunch gunslingers are always a big hit and you will probably be greeted with a hold up or the sound of an old fourty five might make you jump out of your seat.
Biscuits are cooked up on the old dutch oven and I'll be there with the Flying L brand to brand hats and the wooden rubber band pistols. You can find a cool drink right through those swingin' doors. We'll do a little ropin'and archery is a lot of fun for the kids.
Then it is time for a little brisket, chicken, corn on the cob, potato salad, beans, cole slaw and I like the cobbler.
You can catch a ride back to the main house for a campfire under the stars, a little campfire music and finish up the night with smore's.
It's a way of life here.

"Back In The Saddle At Ninety-Eight"

It was a big day at the ranch recently when Dorthy brought her mom to the Flying L for a little fun. We all climbed in the ranch wagon for the ride and I was ask by Dorthy's mom who is ninety- eight. "Buck don't you think I should drive the tractor?" Well after a little discussion she finally let me do the driving. Joe Bob took good care of her as she climbed onto the saddle and took a ride right here in the Texas Hill Country.

I hope I can still ride at ninety eight.

"World Champion"

This Tuesday at three we will be dedicating a room at the ranch to Kevin Fitzpatrick. Kevin is the world champion trick roper and has been performing for thirty years. If you have never seen Kevin perform you'll need to make plans to see his show this summer. What a great entertainer.

I hope you can stop by for this great event.
